[At sea on HMT Pasteur, North Atlantic]

Got up at 8. Very quiet night. Got [***] off for forecastle sweeper but it is raining. Slept all afternoon. Special show for our section tonight. Went to bed early. Sea very quiet.

    It looks like “browned” off but that doesn’t make sense.

  2. That’s what I thought, too — I searched around and couldn’t find any use of the term “browned off” except to be angry at, which really doesn’t fit.
