February 29, 1944

[Plymouth] Still on camp working party and getting darned fed up. Cleaned hut in morning. Worked camp in afternoon. Had fire watch on Artifax at night. Stood 12-1 watch. Advertisements

February 28, 1944

[Plymouth] Cleaned hut in morning. Went down to beach for driftwood in afternoon. Not working very hard. Went to canteen, had supper and played game of snooker. Wrote a letter. To bed early.

February 27, 1944

[Plymouth] Fell in for divisions & church & had dinner. Got job as pool sentry in canteen for duty watch. Played 9 games of snooker. Finished work, came back, went to bed. Still not on gunnery course.

February 26, 1944

[Plymouth] Not on course yet. Cleaned up hut in morning, went ashore at noon over the fence. Opened savings account. Saw 2 shows, went into pub, had scrap with 2 yanks. Made out well, not even bruised.

[Plymouth] Marched over to barracks with New Zealanders to get paid £3. Came back alone, did not get back till noon. Did bit of work in afternoon. Went over fence ashore to show at night. In bed by 10.

[Plymouth] Cleaned up hut for captain’s rounds in morning and was on camp working party in afternoon. Played snooker at night. To bed early.
