June 7, 1944 – Yanks On Board

[Lymington/English Channel]

Picked up troops at Lymington 1100. Off Calshot until 1830. On watch till 2000. Had Yanks on board. Good rations. Good bunch of fellows.

    Yesterday was the D-Day anniversary. I still think of your Dad and the stories he told.

    I met an older gentleman on his bike, wearing his poppy. We spoke briefly. I should have thanked him for his duty.
