August 31, 1944

[London] Had very nice trip with five of us and 3 A.T.S. Arrived in London about 1030. Checked in at Queensborough Club. Slept all afternoon. Went down to pub at night and met some old friends. To bed about 2400.

August 30, 1944

[Belfast/Scotland, enroute to London] Up at 0600. Back on board at 0645. Swept out troop spaces. Prepared for leave. Caught train at 1645. Caught ferry to Scotland, arrived there about 2100. Caught train right for London.

August 29, 1944

[Belfast] QM from 0800-1000. Cleaned No. 2 gun until noon. Went ashore at 1600. Had some Guinness and went to dance at Ulster Hall. Nice dance but very rough. Stayed at Canadian Legion overnight.

August 28, 1944

[Belfast] On watch 2400-0300. Arrived in Belfast at 0900. Tied alongside jetty. De-ammunitioned ship in afternoon. QM from 1800-2000. Jetty sentry 2000-2200. Had shower. To bed about 2315.

August 27, 1944

[Irish Sea] On watch 0600-0900. Still very quiet & still heading north. On watch 1500-1800. Getting lots of sleep. Turned west toward Ireland about 1730.

August 26, 1944

[Plymouth/Irish Sea] Left Plymouth at 0700 with 9 other LCI’s and a destroyer. On watch 1200-1500. On watch 2100-2400. Very quiet. Heading up west coast of England.

August 25, 1944

[Plymouth] Painted numbers on dinghy until 10:30 and then left to refuel. Refueled and rewatered. Back to buoy about noon. Went ashore at 1330. Saw show, had some beer. Back aboard at about 2230.

August 24, 1944

[Plymouth] Cleaned troop spaces until about 0930. Slept rest of morning. Did large dehobeying in afternoon. On duty 2200-2400. Stood Harry’s watch from 2400-0200. He went visiting, forgot to come back.

August 23, 1944

[Plymouth] Duty 2400-0200. Cleaned messdeck in morning. Slept most of afternoon and played cribbage at night. To bed about 0100. Expect to move to somewhere on east coast soon.

[Plymouth] Cleaned wheelhouse in morning and vented 295 [?] for rest of morning & most of afternoon. On duty 1200-1400. Made doughnuts at night, not a very great success.
